your a guy who knows alot about star wars, im not really a fan, but i like empires and i was wondering this, why did the empire fall apart after the emperors death? i mean there are most likely 100's of millions of loyal imperial troops left and many loyal generals, who would fight to destroy any rebels to gain the throne

The Emperor controlled his armies through the force. Upon his death at Endor, the control ended and sent his troops into disarray. This was touched on by Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Heir to the Empire books by Timothy Zahn.
